Beautiful gardening gloves, featuring prints by William Morris.
William Morris 1834-1896
Google is marking the anniversary of the birth of Victorian textile designer William Morris, with one of it’s celebrated Google Doodles. Morris was more than just a designer: he was also a poet, philosopher and political theorist.
Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.
Morris saw the beauty of repetition, symmetry and simplification in design. His textiles represented nature and the organic world around him.
The garden company Briers, brings together these colourful, floral prints with a range of their quality garden tools and accessories in their William Morris Range. The Strawberry Thief Collection has received fantastic industry recognition – having succeeded in being nominated as a finalist in the Brand & Lifestyle Licensing Awards 2016 (winner to be announced on April 20th).
At Truro Tractors, you can get your hand on Briers gardening gloves with either the muted greens of the May Morris’ Honeysuckle print designed in 1883; or the indigo shades of Edward Morris’ famous Strawberry Thief design, inspired by a thrush he watched stealing fruit from his kitchen garden in Oxford. Both pairs are available in store at the Chacewater branch of Truro Tractors, or in the on-line store for the low price of £9 (RRP £12.99)

In 1987, a group of tractor enthusiasts decided they wanted to organise events for like-minded individuals, and so the Cornish Tractor Club was born. The Club has organised many rallies, Working Weekends and Road Runs since that date, and 2013 saw the Cornish Tractor Club celebrate its quarter-centenary.
This year on Sunday the 17th of April, the Club embarks on its Road Run. The run will depart from the Chacewater branch of Truro Tractors where participants are advised to meet at 10am for a 10.30am start. The planned route includes a stop at the Inn For All Seasons for lunch.
The Road Run will be raising money for the charity FLEET – Frontline Emergency Equipment Trust. Established in 1990, FLEET supports all of the emergency services across the county by raising funds to provide life-saving equipment as well as public access defibrillators. In 2015, the Cornish Tractor Club raise £2,000 for FLEET, and they are hoping to do even better this year.
If you would like to take part in the Road Run, contact the Cornish Tractor Club using the details on the poster below.

What a glorious day! At last winter is over and spring is warming the world around us.
The Tractor Ted range of books and DVDs is a great way of introducing pre-school children to a working farm.
The spring edition is full baby animals, including calves taking their first steps, and jumping lambs in the green fields. The farmer is busy clearing ditches with a big JCB digger, and there are more big machines down at the sawmill.
The 40 minute DVD is packed with fun and discovery, songs and counting is £8.99, and the accompanying 32 page photographic books is just £4.99.
Both are available at the Chacewater branch of Truro Tractors or in the online store.
